Ollamh Emeritus le Gaeilge (1980–2014) agus iar-Stiúrthóir Institiúid Taighde na Gaeilge agus an Léinn Cheiltigh in Ollscoil Uladh é Séamus Mac Mathúna. Bhí sé ina Léachtóir leis na Teangacha Ceilteacha in Ollscoil Uppsala, an tSualainn (1970–74) agus ina Léachtóir Statúideach le Nua-Ghaeilge i gColáiste na hOllscoile, Gaillimh (1976–80). Ghnóthaigh sé dochtúireacht sa Léann Cheilteach ó Ollscoil na Ríona, Béal Feirste, áit a ndearna sé a bhunchéim chomh maith. Dhá bhliain staidéir iarchéime san Ind-Eorpais, sa Teangeolaíocht Ghinearálta agus sa tSean-Lochlainnis déanta aige in Ollscoil Zürich agus Ollscoil na hÍoslainne, Reykjavík. Is ball d’Acadamh Ríoga na hÉireann é (Leas-Uachtarán 2009–2013) agus Ball Eachtrach d’Acadamh Eolaíochtaí na hOstaire. Uachtarán Societas Celto-Slavica, is comheagarthóir ginearálta é ar Studia Celto-Slavica. Séamus Mac Mathúna is Professor Emeritus of Irish (1980–2014) and former Director of the Irish and Celtic Studies Research Institute, Ulster University. He was previously Lecturer in Celtic Languages and Literatures, University of Uppsala (1970–74), and Statutory Lecturer in Modern Irish at University College, Galway (1976–80). He took his undergraduate and doctoral degrees in Celtic Studies and English at Queen’s University, Belfast, and carried out postgraduate work in Indo-European, Old Norse and Linguistics at the University of Zürich and the University of Iceland, Reykjavík. He is a member of the Royal Irish Academy (Vice-President 2009–13) and Corresponding Member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. President of Societas Celto-Slavica, he is joint General Editor of the society’s journal, Studia Celto-Slavica.
