Deirdre Ní Ghrianna
Seánraí: Aistritheoir, Gearrscéalaí, Iriseoir, Úrscéalaí
Rugadh in Iarthair Bhéal Feirste í áit a bhfuil sí go fóill. Bhí sí naoi mbliana d’aois nuair a thosaigh na tríoblóidí, rud a chuir isteach uirthi nó go dtí sin, bhí saol beag pléisiúrtha aici. Nuair a bhí sí ar an bhunscoil, léigh mé dá raibh i leabharlann an ranga agus ansin, chuaigh mé (in éadán mo thola) ar scoil Naomh Doiminic.
Casadh a cairde uirthi ansin, Anne Marie, Kate agus Réaltars, agus chuaigh siad uilig go dtí CCÁ cionn is go raibh na tríoblóidí i mbarr a réime agus bhí Lenny Murphy et al ag seilg íospartach.
Ba í an Ghaeilge teanga an tí agus ba é an céilí gach oíche Shathairn an saol sóisialta a bhí acu. Chuir CCÁ seachtar acu go dtí Teach an Mháisteara i Rann na Feirste le deontas £60.00 eadrainn in 1977 agus mhair siad 21 lá ann agus b’iad na laetha saoire a b’fhearr dá raibh ariamh acu.
Bhí sí ag scríobh liom nuair a bhí sí ar scoil; rudaí amaideacha. Labhair saothair Shéamais agus Seosamh Mhic Grianna léi mar a rinne O’ Flaherty, Hardy, O’Casey, Owens, agus Millar. Níor chorraigh an Bard ó Avon í. Síleann sí go bhfuil an chéad alt den Druma Mór ar an scríbhneoireacht a b’fhearr dár léigh sí i nGaeilge nó i mBéarla.
Chláraigh sí le ceardlann scríbhneoireachta in 1989. Thug Cathal Ó Searcaigh an chéad áit don scéal 'Taibhsí' i gcomórtas na scríbhneoireachta i bhFéile an Phobail in 1993.

She attended classes from 1972 in Cumann Chluain Árd, firstly, in Albert Fry’s Bunrang and later, the Ardrang, taught by her now husband, Máirtín Mac Grianna, nephew of the writers Seosamh and Séamas; as did the fortunate ones, including, Art, Breandán F, Breandán D, Máirtín, Pól, Seán agus Réaltars to name but a few.
