Dairena Ní Chinnéide writes in Irish and English and translates her own work. Among her nine publications to date are An Trodaí & Dánta Eile/The Warrior & Other Poems (Cló Iar-Chonnacht, 2006), Poll na mBabies (Coiscéim, 2008) and Cloithear: Aistear Anama (Coiscéim, 2013), Labhraíonn Fungie/Fungie Speaks (Ponc Press, 2015). Her poetry and flashfiction has appeared in many literary magazines including The Irish Times, Poetry International, Southword, Comhar, Feasta, Percutio, The Stinging Fly, The Trumpet, Poetry India. Two of her radio plays were broadcast on RTÉ. She has performed nationally and internationally, at Electric Picnic, West Cork Literary Festival, Cúirt, IMRAM, Ó Bhéal, Féile Bheag Filíochta, Féile na Bealtaine, Féile an Eargail, Centre Culturel Irlandais, Paris, Litterheuset, Oslo, American University, Washington D. C., AWP, Boston, Elms College MA. Among her recent awards are Books Ireland/Irish Writer's Centre/ IMRAM Flashfiction competition, Ealaín na Gaeltachta Bursary, and the Patrick and Katherine Kavanagh Fellowship. A former broadcast journalist, she was managing director of television production company Smerbhic Teo. and worked as an interpreter at the European Parliament. She lives in Corca Dhuibhne.
