Is as Gaeltacht na Rinne, Co. Phort Láirge í Áine Uí Fhoghlú, iarmhúinteoir meánscoile agus iarchraoltóir raidió. Anois ag scríobh go lánaimseartha. Cúig shaothar ficsin foilsithe mar aon le trí chnuasach filíochta agus leabhar de bhéaloideas agus stair áitiúil ó Ghaeltacht na nDéise bunaithe ar shraith d’agallaimh a dhein sí i dtosach na 1990í. Bunchéim aici sa Ghaeilge agus sa Léann Dúchais ó Choláiste na hOllscoile, Corcaigh agus céim MPhil le saothar taighde ar dheilbhíocht canúna Ghaeilge na nDéise. Aoi-chainteanna tugtha go minic aici ar ghnéithe den stair áitiúil, den chanúint agus den bhéaloideas áitiúil agus ar amhráin agus amhránaithe na nDéise. Go leor duaiseanna litríochta buaite aici, ina measc ag Oireachtas na Gaeilge, Seachtain na Scríbhneoirí Lios Tuathail, Féile Idirnáisiúnta Bhéal Átha na mBuillí agus Gradam Filíochta Mhíchíl Uí Airtnéide 2008. Ar an bpainéal Scríbhneoirí sna Scoileanna agus tugann sí ceardlanna sa scríbhneoireacht chruthaitheach faoi choimirce Éigse Éireann. Mar eagarthóir ar an gcéad dá eagrán den iris COMHARÓg. Saothair thaighde agus léirmheasa léi craolta ar raidió agus teilifís agus i bhfoilseacháin éagsúla. Sparánachtaí agus coimisiúin bronnta uirthi ag An Chomhairle Ealaíon, Ealaín na Gaeltachta agus Foras na Gaeilge.

Áine Uí Fhoghlú, who comes from the Gaeltacht area of An Rinn in County Waterford, is a former post-primary teacher and radio broadcaster, now a fulltime writer. To date, she has published five works of fiction along with three poetry collections and a compilation of folklore and local history from her area, based on a series of interviews she conducted with the older generation in the early 1990s. Her primary degree in Irish and Cognate Studies from University College, Cork was followed by an MPhil Degree in which she researched the linguistic structure and accidence of the Déise dialect of Irish. Has delivered many guest talks on local history and folklore, the Déise dialect of Irish, and the songs and singers of the Waterford Gaeltacht. Has received many literary awards including from Oireachtas na Gaeilge, Listowel Writers’ Week, Strokestown International Poetry Festival and in 2008 received the Michael Hartnett Poetry Award. As a member of Poetry Ireland’s Writers in Schools Directory, she delivers creative writing workshops in various schools. Edited the first two editions of the youth literary magazine COMHARÓg. She has received commissions and bursaries from The Arts Council, Ealaín na Gaeltachta and Foras na Gaeilge.
