Paddy Bushe
Rugadh Paddy Bushe i mBaile Átha Cliath sa bhliain 1948. Fuair sé a chuid oideachais i gColáiste Mhuire agus i gColáiste na hOllscoile, Baile Átha Cliath. Tar éis cúpla bliain a chaitheamh san Astráil, chuir sé faoi lena bhean is a bheirt chlainne in Uíbh Ráthach i gCiarraí, áit a raibh sé ag múineadh scoile go dtí 1990. Bíonn sé féin agus Fíona, a bhean chéile, gafa go mór le saol cultúrtha an cheantair. Scríobhann sé filíocht i mBéarla agus i nGaeilge, agus bíonn sé ag plé freisin le haistriúchán na filíochta. Tá a chuid filíochta lonnaithe go doimhin i dtaobh tíre Uíbh Ráthaigh — an mhiotaseolaíocht, an stair, an seanchas agus an dúthaigh álainn féin, go háirithe draíocht agus diamhaireacht Sceilg Mhichíl. Tá roinnt mhaith taistil déanta aige ó d’éirigh sé as an mhúinteoireacht, agus tá tionchar an taistil sin le léamh freisin ar a chuid scríbhneoireachta. Is ball d'Aosdána é.
Paddy Bushe was born in Dublin in 1948. He was educated at Coláiste Mhuire and University College Dublin, before spending two years in Australia. In 1973, he settled in Waterville, Co. Kerry, with his wife and two children, and was teaching there until 1990. He and his wife, Fíona, are very involved in the cultural life of the area. He writes in both English and Irish, and is also an editor and translator. His poetry is deeply rooted in the landscape of Iveragh — its mythology, its history and its physical beauty, especially the otherworldly magic of Skellig Michael. Since retiring from teaching, he has travelled quite a bit, and this also has been an influence on his writing. He is a member of Aosdána.
