New portraits for 2020 will be launched at a major public literary event online on 6th October

The is much happening at the moment in the Portráidí na Scríbhneoirí Gaeilge (Portraits of Irish-language Writers)/portraidi.ie project. More functions will soon be added to the website in addition to the final preparation of the portraits of Group 4 (2020) of Stage 2 of the project.

As part of the work:

- The finishing touches are being put to the new portraits of the eight writers that make up the fourth group of Stage 2 of the project; this group includes the writers: Áine Durkin, Áine Uí Fhoghlú, Declan Collinge, Gary Hastings, Jackie Mac Donncha, Máirín Ní Dhonnchadha, Pádraigín Ní Uallacháin and Seán Ó Coileáin.

- There is an additional portrait of the poet Seán Hutton, based in London, that has been added recently to the database. This belonged originally a previous group in Stage 2, and we are particularly grateful to Pádraigín Riggs for her help in facilitating this.

- The new portraits will be launched on Tuesday 6 October 2020 at a public event online, in conjunction with Oireachtas na Gaeilge when the 2021 Group will also be announced: the next set of writers in Stage 2;

- Work is continuining on the new item of work: Portráidí don Oideachas, (Stage 3) where new adapted portrait entries will be made available for users at all levels of the eductaion system.
