Rugadh Liam Mac Uistín sa bhliain 1938 agus tá an-cháil ar dhrámaí agus scéalta leis bunaithe ar sheanchas na hÉireann. Cuireadh drámaí stáitse, teilifíse agus raidió leis i láthair i go leor tíortha Eorpacha agus i gCeanada, an Astráil agus sa Nua-Shéalainn, chomh maith le stáitsí Amharclann na Mainistreach agus na Péacóige i mBaile Átha Cliath. Bhí neart duaiseanna liteartha buaite ag a chuid drámaí agus scéalta, ina measc duais an Oireachtais dá úrscéal Esperanza (An Clóchomhar, 1994) agus duais RTÉ dá dhráma The Glory and the Dream. Ainmníodh na drámaí raidió Post Mortem agus An Breac don Prix Italia agus aistríodh ar ball iad go hEabhrais agus neart teangacha Eorpacha. Ba údar é ar an leabhar móréilimh do dhaoine óga bunaithe ar an eipic, The Táin (O’Brien Press, 1989). I measc a chuid saothar eile tá Mac an Easpaig (An Clóchomhar, 1997), An Ród Seo Romham (Comhar, 2006) - leabhar faisnéise ar Phádraig Mac Piarais, agus na drámaí An Bairéad Gorm agus Soldiers. Sa bhliain 1976, bhuaigh sé comórtas le teacht ar dhán oiriúnach don leacht sa Gháirdín Cuimhneacháin ar Chearnóg Parnell. Ba bhall Liam d'Áras na Scríbhneoiri leis an blianta. Bhuaigh dán Liam, ‘An Aisling’, an comórtas úd agus tá an dán inscríofa ar an leacht as Gaeilge, Béarla agus as Fraincis.
Liam Mac Uistín was born in Dublin in 1938. His plays for stage, television and radio have been produced in many European countries and in Canada, Australia and New Zealand. His play The Glory and the Dream won the RTÉ award. His stage plays have been produced at the Abbey and Peacock theatres. He was the author of The Táin (O'Brien Press, 1989), a hugely popular book for the young reader on this great Celtic epic. Other published works include the novel Esperanza (An Clóchomhar, 1994), for which he won an Oireachtas award, and Mac an Easpaig (An Clóchomhar, 1997). His published plays are Liombó (An Clóchomhar, 1970) and Pocléim (An Clóchomhar, 1973). Other plays include An Bairéad Gorm, Soldiers, Post Mortem, and An Breac. The latter two were shortlisted for the Prix Italia and were later translated into Hebrew and many European languages for transmission. He also wrote An Ród seo Romham (Comhar, 2006), a non-fiction book on the life of Patrick Pearse. In 1976, a contest was held to find a poem for the Garden of Remembrance in Dublin which could express the appreciation and inspiration of this struggle for freedom. Liam’s winning poem "We Saw a Vision", an aisling style poem, was written in Irish, French, and English on the stone wall of the monument.
