Rugadh Éilís Ní Dhuibhne i mBaile Atha Cliath i 1954. Tá Dochtúireacht sa Bhéaloideas aici. D’fhoilsigh sí a céad scéal, ‘Green Fuse’, ar leathanach ‘New Irish Writing’ san Irish Press i 1974, agus ó shin tá os cionn seasca gearrscéal agus os cionn scór leabhar foilsithe aici, mar aon le filíocht, drámaí, scripteanna telefíse, altanna agus léirmheasanna. Éilís Ní Dhuibhne was born in Dublin in 1954. She has a PhD in folklore. Éilís started writing plays and stories when she was in school and published her first short story in David Marcus’s ‘New Irish Writing’ page, in the Irish Press, in 1974. Since then she has written more than sixty short stories and twenty-four books, as well as plays, television scripts, scholarly articles and book reviews. Her work has received many awards, including the Listowel Writers’ Week poetry award, Stewart Parker Award for drama, three Bisto awards for children’s books, three Oireachtas awards for novels in Irish, the Irish National Book award, the Butler Award from the Association of Irish-American Studies, the Readers’ Association of Ireland Award, among others. Her novel The Dancers Dancing was shortlisted for the Orange Prize for Fiction. Éilís worked for more than twenty years in the National Library of Ireland as an Assistant Keeper. She teaches creative writing in University College Dublin and in the Faber Academy of Writing, and is a member of Aosdána. In 2015 she was presented with the Irish PEN award for literature. Her most recent books are The Shelter of Neighbours (2012) and Aisling Nó Iníon A (2015).
