Rugadh agus tógadh Darach Mac Con Iomaire i mBaile Átha Cliath. Thosaigh sé ag plé le drámaí nuair a tháinig sé go Gaillimh le clárú san Ollscoil i 1996. Choinnigh an drámaíocht óna chuid staidéir é agus tá sé gafa leis an scríobh agus an stiúrthóireacht stáitse agus teilifíse ó shin. Scríobh agus stiúraigh sé an tsraith teilifíse Corp + Anam a craoladh i dtosach ar TG4 i 2011. Craoladh an dara sraith de Corp + Anam i bhFómhar 2014. Bronnadh gradaim IFTA ar an dá shraith de Corp + Anam maraon le príomh ghradam ‘Spiorad na Féile’ agus an gradam ‘Dráma is Fearr’ ag Féile na Meán Ceilteach 2012. Bronnadh gradam 'Sraith Teilifíse na Bliana’ ar Corp + Anam ag Gradaim Chumarsáide an Oireachtais i 2012 agus arís i 2015. I measc na scannán agus na sraitheanna nua drámaíochta teilifíse atá Darach a fhorbairt faoi láthair, tá: Loco Parentis do S4C/TG4, Créacht do TG4/ILBF agus Olagón do Bhord Scannán na hÉireann. Chaith Darach sé bliana mar Stiúrthóir Ealaíne le Taibhdhearc na Gaillimhe, Amharclann Náisúnta na Gaeilge, tráth ar stiúraigh sé ós cionn 40 léiriú gairmiúil, drámaí nuascríofa den chuid is mó. Ainmníodh dhá dhráma a léirigh sé, Cré na Cille & An Béal Bocht, do na gradaim Irish Times Theatre Awards i 2002 & 2004. Bronnadh Gradam BBC/Stewart Parker air i 2005 agus bhronn an Screen Directors’ Guild of Ireland Gradam Fhoras na Gaeilge air i 2015. Stiúraigh agus léirigh Darach an seó ilmheáin ealaíne Aisling? do Ealaín na Gaeltachta i 2016 mar bhuaic ar chlár An Teanga Bheo de Chomóradh Céid an Stáit ar Éirí Amach 1916. Tá Darach faoi choimisiún ag Amharclann na Mainistreach faoi láthair (2017) agus é ag scríobh an dráma stáitse BAOITE.
Born and reared in Dublin, Darach Mac Con Iomaire’s first taste of the theatre drug was on arrival in University in Galway in 1996. Quickly addicted, he’s been writing and directing theatre, TV drama and feature films ever since. Darach wrote and directed the award-winning TV series Corp + Anam during his two-year tenure as Development Executive with Magamedia. Corp + Anam received an IFTA award in 2012 and ‘Best Drama’ and ‘Spirit of the Festival’ awards at the Celtic Media Festival in Derry in 2012. Darach went on to write and direct the second series of Corp + Anam for TG4, which aired to critical acclaim in Autumn 2014. He has also developed and written Olagón — an Irish/Spanish feature film that was awarded development funding by The Irish Film Board and the European development funding scheme — MEDIA. Darach has extensive theatre experience and his six year tenure as Artistic Director of Taibhdhearc na Gaillimhe — The National Irish Language Theatre, was acclaimed for its ambition, energy and creative flair. During this time his work was nominated for numerous awards, including two Irish Times Theatre Awards. He was presented with the BBC/Stuart Parker Award for new writing in 2005. Darach was also nominated for IFTAs in the Best Writer and Best TV Drama categories 2012. The Screen Director’s Guild of Ireland presented Darach with Gradam Fhoras na Gaeilge in 2015. The second series of Corp + Anam also received an IFTA award and 'Best TV Series 2015' at the ‘Oireachtas National Media Awards’. It was also nominated for the prestigious Prix Europa awards in Berlin the same year. Darach has directed over forty professional theatre productions, most of which have toured nationally and internationally, notably, Cré na Cille by Máirtín Ó Cadhain, An Béal Bocht by Myles na gCopaleen and Scéalta Ó Theach na mBocht by Eugene McCabe. Darach is currently (2017) commissioned by the Abbey Theatre to write a new play — BAOITE.
