D’oibrigh sé mar iriseoir leis an nuachtán Foinse ó 2000 go dtí 2009 agus bhí sé mar eagarthóir ar an nuachtán sin ó 2003 go 2009. Bhuaigh sé duais ‘Iriseoir na Bliana’ ó Oireachtas na Gaeilge in 2007 agus 2008 agus arís in 2015. Nuair a dúnadh an nuachtán Foinse in 2009 thug sé seal ag obair mar Chomhairleoir Gaeilge don Rialtas. Chaith sé tréimhse ansin ag obair mar shaoririseoir, mar Eagarthóir Cúnta leis an iris Comhar agus ag léachtóireacht san iriseoireacht in Fiontar DCU. Tá sé ina eagarthóir ar Comhar ó mhí na Bealtaine 2013 agus ar Tuairisc.ie ó 2014. D'fhoilsigh sé bailiúchán aistí, Scéal Scéil: Rúndiamhra na Meán (Cois Life, 2014) agus leabhar ar fhobairt TG4, Súil Eile (Cois Life, 2017).
Seán Tadhg Ó Gairbhí is from Rathkeale in West Limerick and has a degree in Irish and English from NUIG.
He worked as a journalist with Foinse from 2000 to 2009 and was Editor of that newspaper from 2003-2009. He won the Oireachtas na Gaeilge award for Print Journalist of the Year in 2007 and 2008. When Foinse closed in 2009 he worked as an Irish-language advisor to the Government. He then worked as a freelance journalist, as assistant editor of the magazine Comhar and lectured in journalism in Fiontar in DCU. He has been editor of Comhar since 2013, and of Tuairisc.ie since 2014.
He is one of the well-known journalists who contributed to the collection of essays about journalism, Scéal scéil: rúndiamhara na meán (Cois Life, 2014) and his most recent book, Súil Eile, chronicling the founding and development of TG4, was published by Cois Life in 2017.
