A new feature resource has been created to directly view the portrait entries of the writers who have opted to add a sound recording to their entry. There are now 50 audio files, with additional audio files being added.
A new feature has recently been added to the portraidi.ie website, which allows users of the site to view and select the portrait entries of the the writers who have opted to add a sound recording to their entry. There are now 50 audio files, making up a significant corpus of sound material. These audio files allow the public to access recordings of the writers reading an excerpt of their own choosing from their work. The recordings have been placed with each online entry to enhance the archival capacity of the project. The facility to hear the voices of these wordsmiths bringing their work to life adds considerably to the experience of viewing the portrait.
To access those writers who have opted to add a sound recording to their entry, open the writers' section of the website and select "audio files only" as a filter on the right-hand side of the screen.
Professor Philip Nolan, President, Maynooth University, launched the audio files component (Stage 1b) of the Portráidí na Scríbhneoirí Gaeilge (Portraits of Irish Language Writers) project at a special occasion in the John Paul II Library, Maynooth University, Kildare in late 2016.
