Údar ildánach dátheangach ba ea Críostóir Ó Floinn. I gcathair Luimnigh a rugadh é, seachtain roimh Nollaig na bliana 1927. Thosaigh sé ag cumadh drámaí agus dánta i mBéarla agus é ina gharsún deich mbliana; chrom sé ar scríobh i nGaeilge freisin agus é ina dhéagóir. Tá breis agus trí scór earra ina shaothar, drámaí don stáitse, don raidió, agus don teilifís, ficsean agus filíocht, aistí, aistriúcháin, leabhair don aos óg, beathaisnéisí agus dírbheathaisnéis. Scríobh sé colún i nGaeilge san Irish Press gach seachtain ar feadh ocht mbliana. Cuireadh as a phost mar oide scoile é faoi dhó, tar éis drámaí dá chuid, a raibh Bord Amharclann na Mainistreach tar éis diúltú dóibh ar bhonn mórálta, a bheith ar stáitse in amharclanna eile. Bhain sé duaiseanna Oireachtais i ngach gné den litríocht, agus bronnadh Duais an Chraoibhín ar a dhráma Cóta Bán Chríost, ceann de na drámaí úd a tharraing buille den bhachall anuas air. Léiríodh drámaí Béarla dá chuid in amharclanna na Mainistreach agus an Gheata i mBaile Átha Cliath agus sa Lyric i mBéal Feirste, agus drámaí Gaeilge leis i dTaibhdhearc na Gaillimhe, sa Damer agus sa Phéacóg. Bhí sé ina bhall tofa d'Aosdána agus rinne TG4 scannán faoina shaothar faoin teideal Leanann Trioblóid Leabhar.
Críostóir Ó Floinn (O'Flynn) was born in Limerick City a week before Christmas in 1927. He was a bilingual writer — writing in English he uses the anglicised form of the surname — who has published over sixty works comprising plays for stage, radio and television, novels, short stories, poetry, essays, biography, autobiography, and books for younger readers. He has won Oireachtas awards in all the literary genres, and his plays have been performed at the Abbey and Gate in Dublin, the Lyric in Belfast, and An Taibhdhearc in Galway. Two of his plays, rejected by the Abbey Board on moral grounds, resulted in his being dismissed from teaching posts after they had been staged elsewhere. Ironically, one of these, Cóta Bán Chríost (The Order of Melchizedek), rejected by the Abbey in Irish and English versions, was awarded the Douglas Hyde Memorial Prize by an Oireachtas committee chaired by Tomás (later Cardinal) Ó Fiaich. He has published twelve books of poetry, including a 5,000 line chronicle poem, 'Centenary', on the GAA, which includes a section in Irish written in the metre of Merriman's Cúirt an Mheán Oíche. Official censorship of his book of poems, Ó Fhás go hAois, resulted in a Dáil debate. He was a member of Aosdána.
